Description
During the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020, most of us around the world are being told to stay at home and avoid social gatherings. We need to check in on friends and family from remote locations using electronic communication. However, there is still something way more personal in a handwritten note. In this 'Just Checking In' artwork, I have used a vintage postcard depicting the old method of dropping a line to a good friend or family member, I have superimposed crocuses representing the first signs of spring during which this pandemic has shown to be the most devastating, but hoping to conjure up feelings of hope. If you look closely, you'll see a map of the world on the note paper in the middle of the artwork. COVID-19 has spared few countries, and the impacts of this virus have had global ramifications, medically, socially, and economically. If you are one of the many global citizens who has been directly impacted by the virus in your home or have watched a loved one suffer, I send my warmest wishes for your emotional and physical recovery. I hope that as many of you and your families are safe, and this is my note to you: I'm just checking in.
You may want to send one to someone you care about as a greeting card, a pillow, a hand towel (washing hands is critical now), or a mug. If you wear it as a T-shirt, you can use it as a message when you're out and about, while social distancing.
