Description
I hate the phrase, 'over the hill'. This mature couple is still moving forward. Life is a long walk; but when you have someone to hike with, the journey is that much sweeter. I've created this painting to honour the strength and persistence of all those elderly couples still holding each other up. It was created in 2021, during the global pandemic, in which so many elderly who lived in long term care facilities were taken away from us.
This painting was selected as one of 60 images from a submission of over 3000 to a curated exhibit at the Art Gallery of Ontario entitled 'Portraits of Resilience', where it was on display as a vinyl print From March until August 2022. It can also be found in the commemorative book published and for sale that promotes and accompanies the exhibit. In March 2024 the original painting was accepted as part of the 'Keeping Dreams' exhibit at the Womens Art Association of Canada 'Digman Gallery', and on display until April 16.
