Description
When I was a child, my grandparents had a pear tree in their yard. The tree bore many fruit, and my grandmother would invite us over to help pick them, or she would cook them up and can them along with other fruit from other trees. This compilation of cooked fruit was called a compote. Years later, when my grandparents could no longer live independently, I would live in that same house and take care of the trees, harvesting the bags full of pears that were produced in August, and taking them to family and friends. I miss that pear tree. It brought me much joy and sweetness; as did my grandparents. I no longer live in that same house, so every spring I think of its blossoms, and every August I think of the fruit.
This artwork was created starting with a coloured pencil drawing and then manipulated with several digital software applications.
