Description
Hans Christian Andersen wrote 'The Ugly Duckling' in 1844. The story has delighted children and taught moral lessons to millions since. I have always admired swans and love photographing them. This image is also available without text, entitled 'Swan Song', and can be found in my 'Birds' Collection.
"He now felt glad at having suffered sorrow and trouble, because it enabled him to enjoy so much better all the pleasure and happiness around him;"...
"He thought how he had been
persecuted and despised; and now he heard
them saying that he was the most beautiful of
all birds. Even the elder-tree bent its branches
straight down into the water before him, and
the sun shone warm and mild. Then his wings
rustled, he lifted his slender neck, and cried
rejoicingly from the depths of his heart:
“I never dreamed of so much happiness
when I was the Ugly Duckling!”"
