Description
The bread in this image is Chalah, or egg loaf. It is a traditional East European bread that is often associated with holidays. The unopened jar of honey next to it represents the sweet taste of life soon to be spread on its host, for celebrating the joys of family and tradition. On the Jewish New Year, it is customary to dip apples in honey to symbolize the renewal of life with the apple, and the sweetness of life with the honey. Eating bread and honey is also symbolic of the tribute to the sustenance of life and the sweetness for which we all strive.
