Description
"Bid her come forth, suffer herself to be desired, and not to blush so to be admired, then die - that she, the common fate of all things rare, may read in thee, how small a part of time they share, that are so wondrous sweet and fair."
This verse comes from the poem, 'Go Lovely Rose'. This poem was written by Edmund Waller, an English poet who lived from 1606 - 1687. As well as being a poet, he was elected to parliament at the age of 16 and gained a reputation for being a great orator. He also got arrested for his plot in an effort to gain power for the King, Charles the First. He was imprisoned, fined and banished from England by Cromwell for almost 10 years. A poet, a rebel and a politician, leaving such beautiful words to be enjoyed today, when thinking about the brief appearance of a flower.
