Description
Against the image I photographed of a mighty oak leaf, I've added the important words of Martha Gellhorn.
"People often say, with pride, 'I'm not interested in politics'. They might as well say, 'I'm not interested in my standard of living, my health, my job, my rights, my freedoms, my future, or any future'. ... If we mean to keep any control over our world and lives, we must be interested in politics.'
Martha Ellis Gellhorn was an American novelist, travel writer, and journalist, who is now considered one of the greatest war correspondents of the 20th century. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri; Nov. 8, 1908. She died in London, England; February 15, 1998. She was married 3 times. She was married to Ernest Hemingway from 1940 to 1945.
